Zoomie uses Semiotic Engineering

Later in Zoomie’s career, he was hired by a large, influential software company to design a new operating system for a smartphone. He knew from past usability tests and his own experience with smartphones that icons and information on the majority of smartphones were static and did not really communicate anything to users other than a lifeless image - sometimes accurate to the function, sometimes not.

However, Zoomie of course knew that smartphones are amazing tools for receiving and sending information. As a designer, Zoomie appreciated the ways that smartphones enhanced user's lives, and wanted to help improve the ways in which messages, emails, and other pieces of information were received and communicated. He decided to design interactions in the operating system to support these needs.
