Zoomie goes Into the Wild
Zoomie realized that much of people’s everyday lives revolve around using their cellphones to communicate with family, friends, and co-workers. To see how users were currently using their cellphones, he examined them in the wild by observing them on the streets, in their cars, and even in their homes for an extended period of time. Sometime users he even be observed for a month or longer! He grew quite fond of them, but this is beside the point.

After analyzing his notes, he realized that many people had to take their attention away from their daily activities to look at their cellphones to answer text messages. A brand new technology could change user behavior. Zoomie had a fantastic idea: glasses that displayed text messages on the lenses and allowed users to respond by speaking out loud. This would also result in a new level of openness in the world, as everyone could hear everyone else speaking their texts out loud!

After developing the glasses, he gave the first pair to a co-worker named Jeff and watched him throughout the day using the new technology. At first, the technology seemed foreign and difficult to learn, but Jeff, by the end of the day, integrated the glasses into his activities pretty easily. During the second day of observation, Jeff was able to put his phone on silent and only focus on the glasses to use the text message function of his cellphone. Zoomie-Glass had awesome potential!
